Welcome to SymLab, the virtual lab dedicated to symmetric cryptography within ECRYPT II.
SymLab focuses on all aspects of the development, analysis, and deployment of symmetric cryptographic techniques. While we are interested in all aspects of symmetric cryptography, including its theoretical foundations, we will be focusing particular research on the following areas:
- Hash function primitives.
- Lightweight cryptography.
There are currently five ongoing projects and web-resources:
- The Tools for Cryptography.
- The Hash Function Zoo.
- The eBASH Toolkit.
- The Stream Cipher Project.
- The Lightweight Cryptography Lounge.
SymLab and ECRYPT organise and sponsor a number of events, such as workshops and schools, with the objective of strengthening and integrating research in cryptology in Europe. See the list of our upcoming events. Past events (including ones organised by ECRYPT I Symmetric Techniques Virtual Lab - STVL in 2004-2008) can be found here.
